Welcome to Creativindie, a home for indie writers, artists, and any one else committed to achieving financial freedom through creative production. I’m glad you’re here.
Creativindie (pronounced like “creativity”) was intended to be a place where I could share the decade of knowledge I’ve gained in marketing, promotion, productivity and life improvement tips as a professional (independent) writer and artist. It will also be a place where I can share my progress towards achieving significant personal goals and reminding myself (and others) what life is really all about.
However for the moment, I’m using this site primarily to provide book design services for indie authors… this is because nearly all indie book projects fail to get off the ground due to unprofessional book covers (what’s the point of having 100,000 authors marketing a book that nobody wants to read because the cover hurts their eyes?)
Becoming Creatively Independent
The key theme of Creativindie is how to become creatively independent – that is, choosing to focus solely on creative production and how to turn your artistic passions into a source of income so that you can quit doing all the stuff that you hate doing. (If you don’t love your job or enjoy getting up in the morning to go to work, then you’re wasting your time and energy accomplishing other people’s goals.)
Becoming “indie” is not only about making enough money – it’s also about letting your imagination run wild (creativity); finding time to do what you love and enjoying every minute of your life (productivity); getting noticed and increasing visibility (publicity); dreaming big, leaping before you look, and exposing yourself to new challenges and foreign environments (liberty); creating a tribe of exceptional people (community); and filling yourself with passion and joy so that you can give back to the world more than you take from it (luminosity).
I hope to post advice and how-to articles relating to these 5 categories.
In addition, I’ll be supporting indie authors and artists through interviews, art and book cover reviews, and other means.
